Finnair to take security details on US flights by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Finnair has become the latest airline to sign up to the US government"s Secure Flight programme.
The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires carriers to send over information on all passengers travelling to, from or via the country.
Through the scheme, airlines collect travellers" full names as they appear on their passports, dates of birth and genders.
This data is then sent to the TSA three days before the flight"s scheduled departure, allowing the authorities to match the information to their own watchlists.
"An airline cannot accept for a flight individuals who lack a Secure Flight screening result. For this reason it is important that the required information is found from the reservation at the latest 72 hours before the flight departure time," explained Finnair.
"If a booking is made closer to the travel time, the airline will deliver the information to the TSA in connection with the booking confirmation."
