Indirect Flights Becoming Popular
Indirect flights "becoming popular" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
An increasing number of travellers are choosing to take indirect flights to their destination, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The organisation said that this is because direct flights are a "premium" option and are therefore more expensive than indirect services.
In addition, flights that require passengers to change aircraft or airline to get to their destination reduce their prices to make themselves more attractive to travellers.
An IATA spokesman said: "Normally, the direct flight is a premium flight because you get there faster and with less hassle than if you have to go through any intermediary point. So, generally, direct flights have commanded a premium."
He added: "Leisure travellers or those with less hectic schedules may be more price sensitive and would respond to price incentives to take indirect routes."
Recent statistics by aviation research group OAG have suggested that the low-cost sector as a whole is slowing in growth.
However, areas like the Middle East, Latin America and Africa are witnessing an increase in cheap flights.
