Lance Armstrong to compete in Australian event by Cheap Flights Booker UK
American cycling star Lance Armstrong is set to take part in the Santos Tour Down Under in Australia next year.
The sportsman made his return to professional road cycling at this year"s event and will be bringing his new team to compete in South Australia in January 2010.
Nearly 750,000 people watched the Tour Down Under in January 2009 to see Armstrong make his comeback, with even more expected to attend the event next year.
Neil Saunders, UK marketing manager for the South Australia Tourism Commission, said: "The race is now clearly established on the world stage, kicking off the annual Pro Tour calendar and attracting the best teams and riders to Adelaide each January.
"This year"s event saw tens of thousands of visitors travel to South Australia from interstate and overseas, injecting a massive AUS$39m (£22.3m) into our economy."
The 2010 Santos Tour Down Under will take place in Adelaide and surrounding areas from 17 to 24 January.
