Passengers will be able to use mobiles and smartphones to send text messages, transfer data and browse the web during their flights.

"On long-haul routes, we offer business travellers, in particular, a range of communications options on a par with those available at powerful hotspots or upmarket hotels."

From its hub in Frankfurt, the airline operates an extensive international network that includes flights to San Francisco, Sao Paulo, London and Singapore.
