New Yorks Skyline Captured By British Artist
New York"s skyline captured by British artist by Cheap Flights Booker UK
A British artist has made the headlines after sketching New York"s iconic skyline completely from memory.
After completing startlingly accurate sketches of Tokyo, Hong Kong and Rome on the back of seeing them for just a few minutes, London-based Stephen Wiltshire was invited by US TV network CBS to try his luck with the Big Apple"s skyscrapers.
And, after enjoying one of the city"s top visitor highlights, a 20-minute helicopter ride over the city, he managed to reproduce the site on paper, down to an astonishing degree of accuracy.
One of the artist"s friends and colleagues, Iliana Taliotis told the Metro: "Stephen works methodically in short sharp bursts.
"Cities are his passion but he feels New York is his spiritual home."
The finished work is now available for visitors to see at the Pratt Institute, which is located in the Brooklyn area of New York.
Meanwhile, another popular tourist attraction in New York, its Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) has been given the go-ahead for a major new three-storey extension, to be designed by Parisian architect Jean Nouvel.
