Noosa in Australia is expected to become increasingly popular as a travel destination over the coming years, according to research.
The local tourist board commissioned economic firm EMDA to create a report on the travel industry in Noosa, which predicted that visitor spending will rise to over AU$1bn (£563m) a year by 2020 as the destination becomes more popular.
Steve Cooper, chief executive of Tourism Noosa, said that the destination has an ambition to develop as a holiday location without having a damaging effect on the local environment or communities.
"Our philosophy in managing tourism for Noosa is to minimise the impact of visitation while increasing benefits across the community," he commented.
"We are focusing on growing visitor yield, through greater length of stay and strong product offerings, as opposed to simply developing Noosa as a mass tourism destination."
Visitor numbers from Sydney are expected to increase over the coming years, while Melbourne is also set to become an important source market for Noosa.
Foreign travellers can catch flights to Brisbane with Qantas, Emirates and other carriers and head north along the Queensland coast to visit the destination.
