Ski Enthusiasts Advised To Wear Helmets This Winter
Ski enthusiasts advised to wear helmets this winter by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Around half of all Britons set to hit the slopes this winter plan on wearing a skiing helmet to protect themselves from head injuries, it has been revealed.
With a number of Europe"s top resorts currently gearing up for a busy few months, research carried out by the Ski Club of Great Britain in partnership with the equipment hire firm Ski republic found that just 42 per cent of those winter sports enthusiasts questioned said they plan on sporting a helmet this season.
This is in spite of recent calls from medical experts for people to take adequate steps to keep themselves safe on the slopes, with the death of actress Natasha Richardson held up as an example of the possible risks of skiing.
"We urge people to take the risks very seriously," a spokeswoman for the Ski Club of Great Britain stated.
"We advise that all children under 13 wear ski helmets this winter and adults do so at their own discretion."
At the start of this month, Intrawest, which operates nine of the biggest ski schools in North America, including one in Whistler, announced that it is to make ski helmets compulsory for its pupils and teachers this season.
