Travellers Urged To Prepare In Advance
Travellers urged to prepare in advance by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British travellers intending to go away during the half-term period run the risk of encountering problems by leaving important arrangements until the last minute, according to Post Office Travel Services.
The firm conducted a study which found that over 4.8m people will be heading abroad during the school holiday, 20% of whom will go overseas without travel insurance.
Holidaymakers were also warned against waiting until they get to the airport to exchange their currency, as additional fees and poor exchange rates can lead to customers paying 10% more for their money.
The Post Office also recommended being prepared by packing early, with a third (33%) of people reportedly waiting until the day before they leave to get their suitcase ready.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Services, said: "With the half-term holiday looming it"s a great time to escape for a relaxing break, but those who leave their planning to the last minute are creating stress for themselves and more worryingly putting themselves at risk.
"Buying foreign currency at the last minute can leave you with less cash to spend while you"re away due to hidden fees and poorer rates. We also urge consumers not to leave their travel insurance to the last minute."
