British Airways bids farewell to Terminal 4 by Cheap Flights Booker UK

British Airways (BA) has bid farewell to Terminal 4 at London Heathrow after 23 years of operating flights from the facility.

The airline launched its final flights to Australia from the building last week before transferring its joint operations with Qantas to the newly refurbished Terminal 3.

Heathrow"s third terminal now hosts about 8% of BA"s services at the airport, including flights to Sydney, Bangkok and Singapore, as well as short-haul destinations such as Barcelona, Lisbon and Vienna.

The building is also the main base of the oneworld alliance, a group that includes American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair and other carriers.

Peter Lynam, head of network operations at BA, said: "We have had an operation at Heathrow split between three different terminals for the past two decades and it is great to finally be able to say goodbye to Terminal 4 and consolidate our operations in Terminal 5 and with our oneworld alliance partners in Terminal 3.

"Terminal 3 is the closest facility to Terminal 5 and this will help make it a smoother experience for customers transferring between British Airways flights and oneworld alliance partners."

Terminal 2 at Heathrow is set to be closed for redevelopment, meaning that more than 50 airlines are rearranging their operations at the hub.
