Emirates Enjoying Strong Year So Far

Emirates enjoying strong year so far by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Emirates has announced strong performance for its current financial year, with both passenger numbers and profits increasing in the first six months of the period up to 30 September.

The airline carried over 13m passengers during this time and made a contribution of some 10bn dirhams (£1.6bn) to the economy of the United Arab Emirates.

A number of strategies have been employed by Emirates to ride out the economic crisis, including the addition of eight aircraft to its fleet, the launch of flights to two new destinations and the development of new inflight entertainment and mobile connectivity systems.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, the carrier"s chairman and chief executive, said: "Emirates remained focused on its long-term strategy despite the global economic slowdown.

"We have continued to invest in our eco-efficient aircraft fleet; in strengthening our global route network; and also in supporting the infrastructure for our growing business."

The airline revealed at the World Travel Market this week that it is currently working towards enabling its passengers to access the internet through BlackBerries during flights.
