Finnair has announced that a mobile boarding service is being made available to certain passengers catching flights from London Heathrow and Manchester airports.

Members of the Finnair Plus scheme can sign themselves up for the option of mobile boarding by adding a phone number to their profile.

Travellers who decide to try out the facility will receive a text message containing their flight information prior to departure.

Customers then check that all the details are correct and send a reply with the letter A to confirm, after which they will receive a confirmation message that includes a link to a mobile boarding pass to be shown at the airport.

Until now, Finnair has only enabled mobile boarding on certain services, including its international scheduled flights from Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen.

People travelling with the airline have the option to connect in Helsinki to its extensive long-haul network, which includes flights to Tokyo, Bangkok, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
