Holidaymakers Confused Over Travel Vaccinations
Holidaymakers confused over travel vaccinations by Cheap Flights Booker UK
A majority of UK holidaymakers are largely in the dark when it comes to what medication or vaccinations they need for certain long-haul destinations.
Despite the rising popularity of far-flung destinations, including those in Africa and Asia, research carried out by Post Office Travel Insurance found that 56 per cent of travellers don"t know which countries they would need to see a travel nurse for.
Around one in three of those polled revealed that they cannot recall when they were last given travel vaccinations, or what they were vaccinated against, thereby placing many at risk of falling ill while on a dream trip overseas.
Commenting on the findings, Rachel Croft, head of Post Office Travel Insurance, said: "It is worrying to see that so many of us are careless when it comes to checking whether vaccines or preventative medicines such as malaria tablets are recommended before visiting a destination."
The study also found that a significant proportion of holidaymakers are unaware that many of the most common medications and vaccinations are available on the NHS.
At the same time, the Co-Op has reported that the number of overseas holidays being taken by people living in the north of England or Scotland is rising at a faster pace than being seen in the south of England.
