India Remains Cheap For Holidaymakers

India remains cheap for holidaymakers by Cheap Flights Booker UK

India is still good value for money for tourists looking to enjoy the "top end" accommodation and attractions, a travel expert has said.

According to Lonely Planet, although it is not possible to travel around the country "for a few pounds a day", holidaymakers can enjoy quality food at very reasonable prices and stay in hotels which used to be palaces.

Increasing numbers of visitors are exploring modern city centres such as Mumbai and Delhi as well as the more traditional areas of Goa and the Himalayas, the publisher explained.

Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, said: "The Golden Triangle - Delhi, Agra and Jaipur - are really considered unmissable parts of the country and rightly so.

"Beyond the Rajasthan, Goa, classic destinations, people are starting to branch out and they are getting the rewards for that, because unexplored India is still out there in 2010."

Lonely Planet"s Best in Travel 2010 said India would be a popular destination next year due to the majority of foreign currencies still being able to "buy a fairly hefty quantity of rupees".
