Malta set to prove popular in 2010 by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Malta is set to prove a popular holiday destination in 2010, according to a tourism industry spokesman.
Alex Incorvaja, UK and Ireland director of the Malta Tourism Authority, pointed out that one of the biggest factors favouring the destination is its increased accessibility.
"A number of new flight routes started in 2009 and more are planned for 2010, which means the Maltese islands will be even more easily accessible from the UK," he said.
Mr Incorvaja also claimed that, despite being in the eurozone, Malta offers good value for money.
"This has really helped us in 2009 and we believe it will still be a big draw in 2010 as belts are still tight and the credit crunch is far from over," he added.
Commenting on the attractions of the islands, the spokesman pointed out that adventurous travellers have opportunities to try activities such as rock climbing, yachting, cycling and hiking.
Malta also hosts events throughout the year, like the Isle of MTV concert in the summer and the Rolex Middle Sea race in October.
