Over 60s Still Want To Travel Despite Recession
Over-60s "still want to travel despite recession" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
There is still a strong desire among people over the age of 60 to go travelling, despite the impact of the recession, a new survey has revealed.
World Travel Market (WTM) carried out a poll which found that many older travellers enjoyed holidays this year and are already planning their breaks for 2010.
More than half (54%) of the people questioned by WTM said their holidays are "sacrosanct" and would not be disrupted, nearly two thirds of whom are over 60.
WTM chairman Fiona Jeffery said: "80% of the public sampled admit issues such as poor currency exchange rates and flight taxes won"t deter them. And of those people, the over-60s is the biggest grouping (84%).
"They are fitter and more adventurous and are not prepared to let a recession spoil their fun."
This year"s WTM got underway at the ExCeL in London today (9 November) and is expected to host nearly 50,000 travel industry professionals.
