Premium Fares During Holidays Not New Concept
Premium fares during holidays "not new concept" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Travellers should not be taken aback by additional charges they may be required to pay out during holiday periods.
That is according to David Henderson of the Association of European Airlines (AEA), who explained that airfares depend on demand for flights.
He added that costs of travel used to be fixed in earlier years, as fares were decided upon an entire season in advance.
"Nowadays, in deregulated markets, it is normal for revenue management systems to offer a wide range of fares on a flight-by-flight basis," Mr Henderson noted.
"The busier a flight is expected to be, the fewer - if any - seats in the lowest fare bands will be available."
Earlier this week, several major US carriers were reported to be increasing their surcharges on domestic flights in the run up to Christmas.
Delta, United, American and US Airways are all said to be planning additional fees.
