Asia Growing In Popularity Among Cruisers
Asia "growing in popularity among cruisers" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Cruise travellers are showing an increasing interest in Asia as a destination, according to an expert on the sector.
Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor of news and reviews website Cruise Critic, said the continent has "enormous potential".
She acknowledged that it can be a slightly "intimidating" region as a result of its size and variety of languages and cultures, but claimed that cruising can be an ideal way to sample different destinations and experiences.
Commenting on the importance of particular destinations, Ms Spencer Brown said: "Shanghai and Beijing are what we call "marquee" ports - the places on cruise itineraries that people want most to go to.
"It would be interesting to see cruise lines exploring other coastal options."
She revealed that the Yangtze in China is becoming increasingly popular with river cruise operators who offer trips that combine time on the water with land excursions.
AMA Waterways recently announced that it is building a new ship to offer Yangtze cruises.
