Travel Weekly recognises top airlines by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Travel Weekly magazine recognised some of the world"s top airlines at the recent 2010 Globe Travel Awards.

Handed out at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House hotel in London, the honours included 34 supplier awards voted for by travel agents and six consumer categories based on the opinions of newspaper readers.

Emirates was one of the biggest winners, picking up the top prizes in sections covering operators that fly to Africa, the Middle East and Australasia.

Virgin Atlantic was named the best scheduled carrier flying to the US and Canada, as well as the favourite airline in the consumer category.

British Airways was voted the leading provider of scheduled services to Europe.

Eurostar was also among the winners, with consumers voting the company their favourite short-break provider and the trade naming it the best rail operator.

Travel agents" votes also led to Manchester airport being named the best regional base in the UK, while Walt Disney World Florida picked up the award for the best theme park.
