World Cup Will Be Trip Of A Lifetime For Many
World Cup will be "trip of a lifetime" for many by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The potential cost of travelling to South Africa for the football World Cup in 2010 could make it a "trip of a lifetime" for many people, according to Lonely Planet.
A recent report from Virgin Money indicated that England fans could spend around £6,399 each - adding up to a total of £319m - to watch the national team if they make it to the final of the tournament.
Tom Hall, travel editor for Lonely Planet, said there is "no lack of enthusiasm" for going to the World Cup, but pointed out that its location could prove a difficult factor.
"There is a difference between people wanting to pop across to Europe and being comfortable going as far as South Africa," he said.
"With the costs we have been seeing, many fans would have to make it a "trip of a lifetime" journey."
Mr Hall revealed that many people are considering travelling to the World Cup for the second round, in the hope that England will make it through the opening stage of the tournament with no problems.
