Air France operates first A380 flight to Africa by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The Airbus A380 landed in Africa for the first time this month, with Air France deploying the world"s largest passenger aircraft on its route from Paris to Johannesburg.
Passengers are accommodated in 538 seats in three classes - first, business and economy - on the Air France A380.
Three of the carrier"s ten weekly services between Paris and Johannesburg will be operated by the aircraft over the coming months.
Air France is planning to fully operate the route using the A380 from the end of April, when its third superjumbo is set to enter service.
The carrier launched the Airbus plane on its route from Paris Charles de Gaulle to New York in November last year.
Air France-KLM chief executive Pierre-Henri Gourgeon said: "The entry into service of the A380 between Paris and Johannesburg, just after New York in November 2009, illustrates the importance Air France attaches to its services to Africa and in particular South Africa, where Air France has been present since 1953.
"It is also a sign of long-term commitment on the part of the Air France-KLM group in this part of the world and of its confidence in the development of exchange between Africa and Europe."
