Ba Green Fuel Plant Praised
BA green fuel plant praised by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Proposals to construct a plant for the development of sustainable fuel have been welcomed by an international engineering firm.
Mott MacDonald said that British Airways" plans to set up a green fuel plant and then purchase the product for use on its fleet is a "step in the right direction".
Laurence Price, director of aviation strategy, explained that several airlines are examining their carbon footprint and are taking steps to improve their environmental record.
"The amount of money that the air transport industry has spent in terms of trying to meet noise standards, emissions standards and everything else is very, very high indeed," he said.
"Virgin, Air New Zealand and other airlines [are] already looking at different variations on this sort of themes; getting biofuels from algae plants [or] looking at using semi-derelict land or land that otherwise can"t grow food crops."
A recent report from the International Air Transport Association suggested that the aviation industry as a whole is aiming to place a cap on emissions growth by 2020.
