Continental offering mobile boarding from Heathrow by Cheap Flights Booker UK

People travelling with Continental Airlines from London Heathrow can now make use of a mobile boarding facility that has been introduced by the carrier.

The service allows passengers to have a boarding pass with a two-dimensional barcode sent to their mobile device, which can then be scanned at the security checkpoint and boarding gate.

Continental is the first airline to offer paperless boarding on non-stop services from the UK to the US.

The carrier currently operates three daily flights to New York and two to Houston from London Heathrow.

Martin Hand, vice-president of reservations and e-commerce at Continental, said: "We are pleased to add Heathrow to the growing list of airports we serve with mobile boarding passes.

"Customers have told us this is the type of product improvement they want and we will continue to expand the self-service technology to more of our domestic and international destinations."

The airline currently provides mobile boarding passes at 42 airports, including its hubs in New York, Houston and Cleveland.

It extended the facility to Frankfurt late last year, becoming the first US carrier to offer mobile boarding from an international destination.
