Foreign Holidays Putting Pressure On Uk Tourism
Foreign holidays "putting pressure" on UK tourism by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Britain could suffer this year as people head overseas for their holidays, the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) has said.
This is because Brits who tried out a "staycation" last year are keen to travel abroad in 2010, according to the organisation"s spokesman, Ian Bradley.
He added that the Middle East is emerging as a top holiday destination this year and with the euro/sterling exchange rate becoming more favourable, European countries are attractive once again.
"People are definitely travelling more as the global recession eases and people feel confident to travel more," Mr Bradley explained.
"But it"s likely to be a slow rate of growth as confidence returns cautiously."
The comments come after a report from aviation research group OAG revealed that airline capacity grew for the sixth consecutive month in February.
A total of 272.2m seats were available for booking this month, the data showed, an increase of 5% compared with February 2009.
