French ski resorts "have been popular this season" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

France has seen strong demand from winter sports travellers this season, the Ski Club of Great Britain has revealed.

EasyJet recently listed the leading resorts for British skiers based on its booking statistics, with Chamonix, Avoriaz, Meribel and Les Arcs in France occupying the top four spots.

Vanessa Fisher, a spokeswoman for the Ski Club of Great Britain, said there had been some concern that French destinations would not perform as well this winter.

However, reductions in price at a number of resorts, combined with the promise of good conditions, meant that they continued to attract visitors.

Commenting on the appeal of France, Ms Fisher said: "Places like Meribel and Val d"Isere, they fulfil all the criteria for what British skiers are looking for. They"ve got large ski areas and the resorts are often connected to somewhere else."

She added: "There"s a good range and a variety of skiing terrain."

Ms Fisher also pointed out that the recent weather means skiers will have a longer season this year, with conditions set to remain favourable throughout the Easter holiday.
