Global Airline Capacity Grows Again
Global airline capacity grows again by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Airline capacity across the world has increased for the sixth consecutive month, new research has revealed.
The OAG data showed that there were 272.7m seats available this month, which is a 5% increase on the number that could be obtained in February 2009.
In addition, there has been a 4% growth in the frequency at which services are being operated, with capacity in the low-cost travel sector up by as much as 11%.
The only decline reported this month compared to the corresponding period last year has been in the North American market.
Mario M Hardy, vice-president of OAG Aviation for the Asia-Pacific region, said: "It is fascinating how much the movement in flight frequency and seat capacity seems to reflect the regional economic situation.
"Asia"s economy (except Japan) is gradually and carefully recovering and so are parts of Europe/the Middle East/Africa region, while North America and Japan appear to have difficulty and are struggling to come out of this recession."
