Jordan "ideal for older travellers" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Samir Risheq, regional director of the UK and Ireland for Royal Jordanian, an airline based in Amman, said one of the most popular aspects of the country for foreign visitors is its history.

He recommended destinations such as Jarash and Madaba for older tourists, saying that the cities are home to a number of significant religious and historical sites.

"Normally we have this category of travellers going to Jordan because they are interested in the history, the archaeological sites, the sites where there is religion," Mr Risheq said.

"We have the Jordan river, we have the site where Jesus was baptised and we have old churches in Jordan from the Roman time."

The Royal Jordanian spokesman also said that the country offers a warm welcome to visitors, as well as value for money and the opportunity to experience a new culture.

One of the most famous attractions in Jordan is Petra, an archaeological city that was thought to be established around the sixth century BC.
