Security queues may soon be a thing of the past at London City airport as authorities attempt to reduce delays.
The airport began works to added new security lanes two weeks ago and has now announced that they will be completed by the end of the month.
A total of six lanes will be in operation from March and it is hoped their addition will help cut down on waiting times during the security check procedure.
Richard Gooding, chief executive at London City Airport, said: "We recognise passengers are enduring unacceptably long queues at the security checking lanes.
"We are committed to processing passengers as quickly as possible. We expect the queues to significantly reduce with the new lanes and for normal service to resume."
The works are part of a £7m project to upgrade the east London-based airport, all of which will be completely refurbished by the end of 2010.
