Brits Urged To Take Full Holiday Entitlement
Brits urged to take full holiday entitlement by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British workers have been encouraged to make full use of their annual holiday entitlement.
Research commissioned on behalf of British Tourism Week found that the average person in paid employment fails to take, or carries forward, seven days" annual leave each year.
VisitBritain pointed out that taking a three-day break in the UK rather than foregoing this spare time could benefit the domestic tourism industry with around £5.1bn of additional spending.
Some 40% of the people surveyed said they were too busy at work to take their full amount of annual leave, while 15% reported that they couldn"t afford to take holidays.
Bernard Donoghue, co-chair of the British Tourism Week executive council, said: "The research shows that in total a staggering one in five British workers do not take their full holiday entitlement.
"Taking a holiday is good for the British economy, your health and a decent work-life balance."
British Tourism Week will run from 15 to 21 March and will see hundreds of events taking place across the UK.
