Economic crisis "attracting more tourists to Iceland" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

The recent economic crisis has had a positive effect on Iceland"s tourism industry, according to the country"s national carrier.

Icelandair revealed that its UK sales have been on an upward trend during the past year as a result of increased attention being paid to the destination and the favourable exchange rate.

Travel guide publisher Lonely Planet recently named Iceland its best value destination in the World Travel Guide 2010.

Birkir Holm Gudnason, chief executive of Icelandair, said: "It seems that in the middle of the media interest we have been able to communicate the fact that this is a great time to visit Iceland, because as a traveller you simply get more for your money than ever before."

The airline"s UK general manager, Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, added: "Whale watching season is just around the corner so we hope to see many travellers heading over to see the whales and amazing birdlife."
