Next BA strike "will not affect London City and Gatwick" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British Airways (BA) has revealed that the second strike by its cabin crew staff this weekend will not affect its flights from London City and Gatwick airports.
The airline said that support from some employees will enable it to offer a full schedule from these bases between 27 and 30 March.
At Heathrow, the carrier expects to operate 55% of short-haul flights and 70% of long-haul services.
During the first strike by members of the Unite union last weekend, more than 3,000 cabin crew who were due to work reported in as normal, equating to 97% of rostered workers at Gatwick and 53% of staff at Heathrow.
BA revealed that it will continue to lease manned aircraft from other airlines and offer seats on alternative flights to mitigate the effect of the next round of industrial action.
Chief executive Willie Walsh said: "The biggest contingency plan in our history went extremely well last weekend with large numbers of cabin crew reporting for work as normal.
"As a result of the numbers of crew wanting to work, we are increasing significantly our flying schedule and will be operating a full schedule at Gatwick and London City airports."
Mr Walsh also said that the company"s door "remains open to Unite" and stressed that it is not too late for the second set of strikes to be called off.
