The airline carried out a UK-wide survey of 1,000 British people in an attempt to discover the secret of a healthy relationship, following recent high-profile break-ups between the likes of Cheryl and Ashley Cole and Katie Price and Peter Andre.

Four out of five (81%) people surveyed said they felt their most recent holiday had made their marriage stronger and brought them closer to their partner.

The study also found that individuals who had been on holiday with their husband or wife in the past six months rated their happiness as a couple as nine out of ten on average.

This rating dropped to seven out of ten for those who had not been away with their partner for more than 12 months.
