Survey Shows Support For Full Body Scanners
Survey shows support for full-body scanners by Cheap Flights Booker UK
British travellers have shown support for the use of full-body scanners at UK airports, according to a new survey.
Travel add-ons provider Holiday Extras polled over 1,000 Brits and found that 43% would not have a problem with taking part in a scan, as security is the most important issue.
Over a third (35%) were not concerned by the prospect of a full-body scan and "couldn"t see what all the fuss was about", according to the survey.
A further 15% said they would find it acceptable to take part as long as they couldn"t see the person operating the scan and the image was destroyed afterwards.
Only 7% of respondents disapproved of the new security measure, with 6% saying it would make them feel "extremely uncomfortable" and 1% admitting that they would consider refusing.
Full-body scanners are currently in operation at London Heathrow and Manchester airports.
Announcing the introduction of the machines in February, Sarah Barrett, head of customer experience at Manchester, said: "It will enhance security for everyone, which can only be a good thing, without compromising people"s privacy."
