Ticket Sales Announced For New Zealand Rugby World Cup

Ticket sales announced for New Zealand Rugby World Cup by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Sports fans hoping to take a trip to New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup (RWC) next year will be able to start planning their journey soon following the announcement of the ticket sales process for the event.

Applications for the first round of sales will open on 27 April, with more than 1m tickets for matches at all 13 venues being made available worldwide.

Fans will be able to apply to purchase tickets for the first two phases of the tournament, while third-phase tickets - for the semi-finals and final - will only be available through an open ballot.

Some 85,000 people are expected to visit New Zealand for the World Cup in September and October next year, including 25,000 from the UK and Ireland.

Rugby New Zealand 2011 chief executive Martin Snedden said that the event will leave a "valuable legacy" in the form of world-class sporting facilities, more efficient transport and other improvements.

He added: "RWC 2011 will be watched by a cumulative television audience of 4bn, providing a priceless opportunity to showcase New Zealand to the world."

Matches will be held in Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland and other cities.
