Uk Travellers Showing More Interest In Germany

UK travellers "showing more interest in Germany" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Germany"s national tourist board has highlighted the importance of British travellers to the European country"s industry.

Last year, around 8.4% of all foreign visitors to Germany came from the UK and 0.7% came from Ireland.

The UK is now the third biggest European market for travel to the country, after Switzerland and The Netherlands.

Figures from the UN World Tourism Organisation show that international visitor arrivals declined by up to 5.6% in Europe last year, while Germany reported a fall of only 2.7%.

The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) revealed that the number of overnight stays by British visitors in January was 3.3% up from 2009, suggesting that a positive trend could emerge during the coming year.

Klaus Lohmann, UK and Ireland director of the organisation, said: "Over the next couple of years the GNTB is expecting an overall growth in overnight stays between 1% and 3%. We are looking very positive … [for] the future."

Travellers can explore some of Germany"s most popular destinations and regions by catching flights to Munich, Berlin, Cologne and other cities.
