Winter Still Going Strong At Canadian Ski Resort
Winter "still going strong" at Canadian ski resort by Cheap Flights Booker UK
People considering a late-season skiing or snowboarding holiday have been informed that winter is "still going strong" at the resort of Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Canada.
A powerful storm in March left around 60cm of snow on the region"s slopes, creating ideal conditions for the Easter and spring period.
The 2009-10 season is now Whistler"s third-snowiest on record, with overall powder levels reaching 1,346cm, or 44 feet.
Doug MacFarlane, mountain manager at the resort, said conditions for this time of year "could not be better".
He added: "The snowpack is deeper than normal and we"ve received plenty of fresh snow with this recent storm.
"All of this snow sets us up really well for winter-like conditions this long weekend. We"re also looking at a great base for spring skiing, which will continue through to 24 May."
Nearly all of Whistler"s skiing and snowboarding terrain is now open, including the men"s Olympic course.
Travellers can get to the resort by catching flights to Vancouver - which are available with carriers such as Air Transat, United Airlines and Air Canada - and heading north by road or rail.
