Airline Rescue Operation Underway
Airline rescue operation underway by Cheap Flights Booker UK
A rescue operation is now in full swing following the reopening of UK airspace yesterday (21 April), with airlines arranging a number of special services to bring stranded passengers home.
EasyJet announced that it would be operating 15 flights to Spain, Portugal, Malta and Egypt to carry travellers whose original journeys had been cancelled.
The carrier chartered additional aircraft to provide the extra services, which are expected to carry some 3,000 passengers.
A rescue flight to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt was launched yesterday and further services to Madeira, Malaga, Alicante and Malta have been scheduled today.
Meanwhile, KLM has been informing its passengers of increased availability and answering questions about reservations through its channels on Twitter and Facebook.
The sites are being used to take some of the pressure off the airline"s call centres.
KLM president and chief executive Peter Hartman said: "We are pulling out all the stops to help our passengers. It"s great news that we can use social media towards this end."
