Culinary Tourism Becoming More Popular
Culinary tourism "becoming more popular" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The trend of culinary tourism has been gaining strength in recent years and looks set to continue growing, according to an expert.
Erik Wolf, president of the International Culinary Tourism Association, said that leading travel destinations have been aware of the importance of offering good food for several years.
One of the main factors behind the importance of culinary tourism, according to Mr Wolf, is the universal appeal of quality cuisine.
"Food and drink are the only tourism products that all visitors enjoy," he said. "Not everyone shops, attends the theatre or golfs, but everyone eats."
Mr Wolf revealed that the growing popularity of this form of tourism has led to an increasing number of operators offering food tours.
He also identified a number of destinations that are "particularly hot" with regards to their culinary appeal at the moment, including Singapore, Vancouver, Nova Scotia, South Australia and Peru.
The Post Office recently surveyed the cost of meals, drinks and other tourism products in Europe and found that Prague is the cheapest destination for a city break this spring.
