Travellers catching flights to Dublin later this year will be among the first to experience a new terminal at the city"s international airport.
The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) announced that the facility is scheduled to host its first passengers in October as part of a testing process.
A number of trial flights will land at the hub"s second terminal ahead of its planned opening in November.
Declan Collier, chief executive of the DAA, said: "The main construction phase of T2 is now almost complete and we will shortly begin a detailed series of operational trials to test all of the systems and processes in the new terminal."
He also revealed that the building will have a number of user-friendly features designed to improve the passenger experience at Dublin airport.
The DAA confirmed that it is refunding all car parking charges at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports for customers who were affected by recent disruption caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland.
About 3,200 flights were cancelled at the three bases, affecting some 400,000 incoming and outgoing passengers.
