Northern Territory set to benefit from major investment by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Travellers visiting the Northern Territory (NT) in Australia this year could see the benefit of substantial investment in the region.

It has been announced that the government will provide a funding package of $42.6m (£25.8m) for the state"s tourism industry this year.

Tourism minister Malarndirri McCarthy said the investment will help the Northern Territory sell itself to Australia and the rest of the world and show that its "natural and cultural attractions are not to be missed".

She added: "The past year has been challenging for tourism worldwide, with a global contraction of leisure travel as people decided to stay closer to home.

"However, 782,000 tourists visited the Territory last year, many as [a] result of … Tourism NT"s marketing campaigns."

The investment will lead to a number of promotional initiatives being launched this year and new tourism products being developed.

Travellers can catch flights to Darwin with carriers including British Airways, Qantas and Emirates to explore the Northern Territory, which is home to famous attractions such as Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock.
