Some airlines to resume UK flights today by Cheap Flights Booker UK
Some airlines are set to resume flights to and from the UK today (20 April) following the lifting of airspace restrictions that were implemented after a volcanic eruption in Iceland last Wednesday.
British Airways announced that it aims to resume services from its London airports from 19:00 BST.
The carrier said that it is working on "detailed plans" to help as many people as possible who are stranded abroad, but stressed that the operation of flights is subject to "the full and permanent opening of airspace".
Flybe announced that it intends to offer 18 services from six bases in the UK - Belfast City, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Newcastle.
Chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said that, while the picture for the rest of the week "remains unclear", the airline is hopeful that "the worst might be behind us".
Abta - The Travel Association welcomed the announcement that initial restrictions on UK airspace are being lifted, but stressed that it will take time for the aviation network to return to normal.
