Travellers Showing Strong Demand For Euro
Travellers "showing strong demand for euro" by Cheap Flights Booker UK
People planning trips abroad have shown strong demand for the euro this month, International Currency Exchange (Ice) has revealed.
The company pointed out that sterling hit a three-month high in terms of value against the single European currency on 23 April.
Euro sales have been strong throughout the month, increasing by 34.9% year-on-year despite the fact that the recent closure of UK airspace led to widespread flight cancellations for a period of six days.
Koko Sarkari, global head of Ice, said: "British travellers are getting the best value they have seen in a while for the euro, which could account for the strong sales of this currency we have seen this month.
"Thanks to a favourable exchange rate, £500 now gets travellers roughly an extra €20 compared to this time last year."
The latest Ice league table indicated a rise in the popularity of trips to Turkey, with the country"s lira currency ranked fifth on the strength of recent sales, up from 13th place last year.
Along with the euro, the dollar currencies of the US and Australia completed the top three.
