Ba Reveals Plans For First Strike

BA reveals plans for first strike by Cheap Flights Booker UK

British Airways (BA) has confirmed contingency plans for a forthcoming strike by cabin crew staff, with more than 70% of customers expected to travel as normal.

The Unite trade union announced that its members would be staging the first of four planned walkouts from 18 to 22 May.

BA intends to fly more than 60,000 customers on each day, with all flights to and from London City and Gatwick airports due to operate as scheduled.

The carrier expects to offer more than 60% of long-haul flights and 50% of short-haul services from London Heathrow and will continue to fly to every short-haul destination on its network from the airport.

Aircraft with pilots and crew are being leased from other carriers to help maintain BA"s schedules.

The airline is also making arrangements to allow passengers to rebook with separate companies if their flight is cancelled.

Willie Walsh, chief executive of BA, said: "Unite"s leaders have deliberately targeted the busy half-term holidays to cause as much disruption as possible for hard-working families looking to spend some well-earned time away.

"We are confident that many crew will ignore Unite"s pointless strike call and support the efforts of the airline to keep our customers flying."
