Bristol Airport Set To Expand

Bristol airport set to expand by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Bristol airport is set to carry out developments that will allow it to increase its passenger numbers over the next decade.

North Somerset Council approved a £150m plan that will enable the airport to increase its annual passenger traffic from 6m to 10m by 2019-20.

The expansion is set to create up to 4,000 new jobs and will provide an economic boost for the region by attracting more inbound tourists.

According to TravelMole, the development will also allow managers of the airport to add new routes to its network, with flights to Dubai, Singapore, Toronto and Istanbul among the services that could be introduced.

Meanwhile, BAA announced that it had withdrawn its applications to build new runways at London Heathrow and Stansted airports after the new Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government made it clear that it would oppose the plans.

David Johnston, Stansted"s managing director, said: "We have reflected carefully on the new government"s clear intention to change its airports policy and have moved quickly to withdraw this application."

He added: "We continue to believe that new airport capacity is needed in the south-east of England, to strengthen the UK"s international trading links."
