European cities continue to offer the world"s highest quality of living, according to a new report.
The Mercer 2010 Quality of Living Survey gave top ranking to Vienna, followed by Zurich and Geneva in second and third places respectively.
Vancouver and Auckland shared fourth position in the list, while Dusseldorf, Munich, Bern and Sydney also featured in the top ten.
Mercer ranks cities all over the world for their quality of living based on a range of factors, from political stability and crime to leisure offerings and the natural environment.
A new addition to this year"s survey is the "eco-city" ranking, which is based on criteria such as pollution levels, traffic congestion and waste removal.
Calgary topped this section of the study, while Helsinki was ranked joint third with Ottawa.
Oslo and Stockholm shared ninth position in the list along with Kobe in Japan.
Commenting on these results, Slagin Parakatil, senior researcher at Mercer, said: "Nordic cities do particularly well because the modern parts of most of them have been designed with potential environmental impacts in mind."
