European nominees announced for World Travel Awards by Cheap Flights Booker UK
People yet to decide on the destination for their European holiday this year might be interested in hearing some of the nominations for the 2010 World Travel Awards.
Some of the world"s most popular holiday cities are in the running to be named Europe"s leading destination, with Amsterdam, Rome, Istanbul, Lisbon, Paris, Venice and Prague all being shortlisted.
In the section covering the continent"s top beach hotspots, nominees include the Greek island of Corfu, Cannes in France, Dona Ana in Portugal and Costa Smeralda on the Italian island of Sardinia.
Air France, British Airways and KLM are in with a chance of being named Europe"s leading airline, while London Heathrow, Munich International and Madrid Baraja have been shortlisted in the category covering airports.
Graham Cooke, founder and president of the World Travel Awards, said: "Europe in particular is always highly contested.
"After a rigorous selection procedure, successful nominees must now continue to demonstrate what exactly it is that sets them apart from the rest."
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Antalya, Turkey on 1 October.
