New travel guide series being launched this month by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Travellers planning an overseas trip this year will be able to make use of some new full-colour guidebooks to help ensure they make the most of their break.

Lonely Planet announced that it would be introducing the Discover series this month following "extensive research" that sought the opinions of people looking for "inspiring, highlights-based" guides.

The new publications are designed to point travellers towards the most famous attractions, sights and experiences on offer in different destinations.

Nine titles will be released to get the Discover series underway, covering Australia, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Spain, Thailand and Europe.

Lonely Planet has also announced that there were more than 3m downloads of its iPhone city guides in April, making them the top free travel applications on iTunes.

The company made 13 of its European destination guides available free of charge for four days last month to help travellers who were affected by the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Tom Hall, Lonely Planet"s travel editor, said: "The rate at which the iPhone city guides have been downloaded has been phenomenal."
