Pata to support tourism recovery in Thailand by Cheap Flights Booker UK
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (Pata) has said that it will support a recovery plan for Thailand"s tourism industry when the current situation in Bangkok has stabilised.
Violent clashes and political protests have occurred in the Thai capital in recent weeks, leading the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to advise against all travel to the city.
A Pata delegation recently met with representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand to discuss the revival of the travel industry.
The association said it would help the country to recover from its recent troubles and reminded travellers that a number of popular tourist resorts, such as Phuket, Koh Samui and Krabi, were not affected by the protests in Bangkok.
In an update released on 25 May, the FCO said that it now advises against all but essential trips to Bangkok, replacing its previous warning against all travel to the city.
The government agency said the situation in Bangkok is "returning to normal", but stressed that there is still a curfew in place in the city and in 23 other provinces.
