Brits "adjusting budgets to afford holidays" by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Many Britons are making cuts to their budgets and foregoing day-to-day luxuries to ensure they are able to go on holiday, according to the Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks.

The companies conducted a study that examined the financial habits of some 3,000 people, finding that while overall expenditure has been reduced, saving and spending in particular areas has increased.

In 2010, the average Briton"s annual holiday spend will be £905.83, compared to £872.64 a year ago, according to the research.

Spending on other products and luxuries, such as takeaways and meals out, hobbies, clothes and make-up, was found to have fallen by up to 24% over the past year.

Steve Reid, retail director at the Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks, said: "The survey clearly shows that people are changing their spending habits by cutting back on small luxuries so that they can afford the things that really make a difference in life.

"People are spending more wisely and putting more into savings so that they can enjoy worry-free quality time with friends and family and feel the positive impact of their spending."
