Currency Figures Highlight Popularity Of Brazil Among Travellers

Currency figures highlight popularity of Brazil among travellers by Cheap Flights Booker UK

Post Office Travel Money has released currency sales figures for the first five months of the year that highlight the growing popularity of Brazil among travellers.

The company revealed that sales of the Brazilian real were 238% higher between January and May this year than during the same period in 2009.

Mexico"s peso currency and China"s yuan both experienced a 12% rise in demand, while interest in Australia led to a 10% increase in orders for the country"s dollar.

Post Office Travel Money revealed that sterling recently recovered some of its value against the euro to reach an 18-month high.

Despite this, orders for the single European currency have been struggling to reach 2009 levels in recent months.

Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said the figures also suggest that eastern European countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia and the Czech Republic are struggling to compete with destinations that are commonly perceived to be cheaper, like Turkey and Egypt.

She added: "People who have not already booked a holiday should do their homework to find a resort that offers the best possible exchange rate and a low cost of living."
