The Mediterranean island will play host to the 14th International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama from 1 to 27 July.
Held at different venues around Cyprus, the event serves as a showcase for the theatrical culture that emerged in ancient Greece between 550 and 220 BC.
The programme will begin with performances of Alcestis by Euripides at the Paphos Ancient Odeon, Limassol"s Curium Theatre and the Makarios III Amphitheatre in Nicosia on 1, 2 and 3 July respectively.
Other works set to be performed over the following weeks include Agamemnon by Aeschylus and Lysistrata by Aristophanes.
The shows will be performed by the National Theatre of Greece, the Cyprus Theatre Organisation and visiting companies from China, Slovenia and Russia.
Cyprus is also home to a number of archaeological sites where visitors can learn about Greek culture and history, such as the Tombs of the Kings and House of Theseus in Paphos.
